Palliative Care Curriculum

This self study program offers the tools to provide practical training in palliative care in long term care settings. Medical students, residents, and geriatric fellows in training may take advantage of the course and earn credit hours through self-study. Medical Directors may use the course to conduct interdisciplinary training sessions in their facilities. The materials that are included in this kit include:

• Slides with speaker’s notes; Handouts, tools, and templates that can be downloaded and printed;
• Links to resources available on the web; A bibliography for each topic to print out and include in the syllabus;
• and, A test for each topic that self study learners may take on-line or print and return to AMDA to receive credit certificate.

2. Teaching content for CMDs who choose to use some or all of the materials for in-service training includes a section of the CD that includes teaching tools:

• Trainer’s Notes for teaching the entire course.
• Trainer’s Notes for individual topics – including the objectives and key take-home points for each of the 10 course topics.
• Capacity to download slides onto a disc for projection during lecture.
• Capacity to print speaker’s notes for each topic to ensure consistency with the intent of the course planners.

Developing Policies Procedures for the Long Term Care Facility: The Medical Director's Role

The goal of the self study program is to teach physicians serving as LTC medical directors about the implications of policies and procedures for effective management of physician services and the oversight and improvement of the quality of care in nursing facilities. Approved for 1.5 CMD Credits.
