Join AMDA for a Full Array of Benefits and Services Exclusively for LTC Professionals

AMDA is the only national organization guided exclusively by the needs and issues affecting long term care medicine. AMDA membership is designed for you, as an individual. AMDA addresses the responsibilities of the interdisciplinary team to help everyone work together and effectively address difficult clinical and administrative issues in long term care.

Corporate and industry memberships are available. Contact our membership department (membership@amda.com or 410-740-9743).

AMDA has the tools you need to help you face these daily challenges.

Here are some of the reasons why AMDA is beneficial to your career.
  • Advocates on your behalf — AMDA’s efforts include regular dialogue with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), legislators, stakeholders, coalitions, and related associations.

  • Professional Advancement – AMDA’s premium educational programs include: seminars, Webinars, online library for continuing education and in-service, workshops, and conferences. For physician members, the opportunity to achieve Certified Medical Director (CMD) designation at a significant cost savings compared to that of nonmembers is a particularly valuable benefit. Go to:www.amda.com/education.

  • Exclusive Member Rates and Members-Only AccessMembers can take advantage of exclusive access to AMDA’s online directory, members-only resources and news, as well as discounted rates on educational offerings and products. AMDA’s Clinical Practice Guidelines are respected as the standard in the field; indeed, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reference these guidelines in their state operations manual. In addition, the MDS 3.0 users manual references AMDA’s guidelines as a resource for the Care Assessment Area as expert endorsed and evidenced based care processes.

  • AMDA’s Print and Electronic News Resources –Members receive:
    • Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA) – nine issues per year of the peer-reviewed journal (2010: ranked 6th out of 44 for citations in Geriatrics & Gerontology category)
    • Caring for the Ages - the must-read monthly tabloid
    • AMDA Reports - quarterly newsletter outlining AMDA issues in a snappy, easy-to-read format
    • Weekly Round-Up - an e-newsletter reporting on trends, advocacy, clinical updates, and other issues impacting long term care professionals
    • State Network News - a quarterly e-newsletter reporting on AMDA state chapter activities

  • Mentoring Program New physicians may participate in the mentoring program that introduces them to established practitioners to learn from one another to enhance professional skills. Contact Sherri Smith (ssmith@amda.com or 410-992-3114).

  • Network through AMDA State Chapters – Multiply the effectiveness of your professional experience by joining your state chapter. Membership in the state chapter provides networking and professional development opportunities with your colleagues at the local level, as well as interactions with state survey agencies, state medical societies, and third party payors; and opportunities to network further by working on boards and committees. *The AMDA Foundation: The Foundation, an independent not-for-profit organization, serves as the research arm of AMDA. Its mission is to advance quality in long term care through research and education and provide consumers and care-team members with data to support evidence-based practice. The Foundation also takes an active role in outreach efforts to residents, fellows and young-career physicians with an interest in long term care.
