South Dakota Chapter Encourages Members to Obtain CMD Status
The South Dakota AMDA chapter has had a tradition of helping members
attend the annual AMDA meeting by offering a modest stipend to those
who attend. Recently this program was expanded to provide partial
funding for members pursuing CMD status to attend the Summer or Winter
Management Conferences. SDMDA Board Member David Brechtelsbauer, MD, CMD, noted,
"Members with CMD have a record of contributing more to our
organization as well as, most importantly, enhancing the quality of
care delivered at the facilities where they work. It therefore seemed
entirely appropriate that we should encourage members to obtain CMD
training."
The first recipient of the award is Dr. Michael Crandell from
Kennebec, South Dakota (population 286). Dr. Crandell is planning to
attend the Summer Management Conference being held in August in
Cambridge, Maryland.
Congratulations Dr. Crandell, and hats off to the South Dakota Medical Directors Association for this innovative idea.
