Message from AMDA's House of Delegates Chair
As the incoming Chair of the House of Delegates, let me first
express greetings as well as my gratitude to the members of the House
for their support. It is an honor to be able to serve AMDA and you, the
constituency, in this leadership position. Together we can move
forward, always with the underlying agenda being the fulfillment of the
mission of AMDA--to improve the quality of patient care.
The House of Delegates meeting in San Diego was a stellar occasion.
Under the superb direction of Randy Huss, the House conducted its
business, debated issues, and handled a variety of resolutions with
exemplary equanimity. The excellent work of the Resolutions Committee,
and the expanded process (initiated by Randy) of having an open
Resolutions Committee meeting between the two sessions of the House,
combined to create a methodology for processing resolutions that was
most productive and effective. Each of us needs to appreciate the
laudable leadership that Randy Huss demonstrated as Chair of the House
for the past two years. Thanks, Randy!
State and Regional Chapter meetings are coming up. As you plan and
implement your meetings, allow for and then take the time to have
discussion of issues with the members. If there is a resolution or
resolutions that come out of your meetings, get your teams together and
work to make each one as complete and as effective as possible. Draw
freely on the wonderful resources available in our marvelous AMDA
staff, and please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if I can be of
assistance to you. In reality, now is the time to start preparing for
an effective House of Delegates meeting in Orlando next March.
