GMDA Forges Relationships Toward Unity
The Georgia Medical Directors Association (GMDA) has actively formed
relationships with organizations and agencies throughout the state to
promote long term care. GMDA has agreed to co-sponsor two sessions each
on "Pain Management" and Unnecessary Drug/Adverse Drug Reaction Survey
Protocol" with the Georgia Office of Regulatory Services and the
Georgia Nursing Home Association. The half-day workshops, to be held in
May, are designed for nursing home clinical personnel, physicians and
primary care providers, pharmacists, and state surveyors.
Elsewhere, GMDA is serving on the External Advisory Committee to the
Emory Center for Health in Aging. GMDA member Joe Ouslander, MD, CMD,
is the principle investigator for one of 18 Developmental Centers for
Evaluation and Research on Patient Safety, funded through the Agency
for Healthcare Research and Quality.
GMDA members Dennis Taylor, MD, CMD; Andy Weinberg, MD, CMD; and
John Antalis, MD, CMD, serve on the Georgia Medicaid Drug Utilization
Review Board. Additionally, Joe Hannan, MD, CMD; Pamela Erdman, MD,
