2nd Annual LTC Research Conference

"Patient Safety Issues in Long Term Care" will be the focus of the 2nd Annual Conference of the AMDA Foundation Long Term Care Research Network, a national practice-based research network of long term care professionals launched in 2001. The conference will be held November 2-3, 2002 at the Hotel Adolphus in Dallas, Texas.

Members of the Research Network will receive a letter of invitation in August 2002. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come basis with consideration given to participation in Network activities. The two-day conference has several goals:

  • Discuss findings of research studies initiated in 2001 and their implications for improving quality and safety in LTC.
  • Identify and discuss new research priorities for the Network with an emphasis on using performance measures (quality indicators) and large data sets (MDS) to compare Network results against national norms.
  • Identify new principal investigators.
  • Provide training about the role of the site investigator in educating IRB's and their facilities about research issues in LTC, including human subject protection and privacy.

The AMDA Foundation is committed to ensuring a positive future for long term care. Our programs are designed to support physicians practicing in this setting and to encourage young practitioners to choose this specialty. The Foundation thanks all of the committed individuals who have helped move these efforts forward.
