Santa Fe Fall Management Conference
More than 150 physicians attended AMDA's Fall Management Conference,
held November 27-December 3, 2000 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Participants
in all courses praised the content and the presentations, and they were
pleased about the time faculty took to research and prepare answers to
questions. Several physicians also cited the value of the reference
materials and bibliographies included in the syllabus. Case study
breakouts also were popular, and attendees asked that these be a
regular part of future programs.
Bringing together Modules A, B, and C, as well as the Advanced
Course, has proven to be a welcome means of obtaining credit toward
becoming a Certified Medical Director (AMDA CMD) or achieving AMDA CMD
recertification.
Advance Course participants were updated on HCFA survey process and
federal compliance issues, insights into creating successful plans of
correction, and tracking and using data and statistics in nursing home
management. Attendees especially appreciated the interactive nature and
take-home disk used in the tracking and data session. Attendees found
the presenters to be very engaging, knowledgeable, and well organized.
Five programs from the conference were recorded and will be delivered online at AMDA's new web site for online education, www.amdacmedirect.com,
early this year. AMDA members will be able to obtain CME or AMDA CMD
credit by participating in virtual sessions on Pain Management, PPS:
Lessons Learned and Strategies for Working Together, Infection Control
and Immunization, MRSA/VRE, and Urinary Incontinence.
Dates for the 2001 Summer and Fall Conferences are scheduled for
July 16-22, 2001, and November 26-December 3, 2001, respectively. The
locations will be finalized in the upcoming weeks.
