Winter Management Conference
Brochures about the Winter Management Conference on Medical Direction
are hot off the press and in the mail. Information and registration
form can also be accessed from www.amda.com/education/winter2003/. This
year's conference will be held from December 1-6, 2003 in Palm Springs,
California. Please take note of the 1:00 pm start time on Monday,
December 1.
Physicians who are working to complete the Core Curriculum in its
current format will want to take advantage of this last opportunity to
do so. Seating will be limited, and registrations received before
September 15th will be given priority seating. After September 15th,
registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The
August Summer Management Conference registrations filled Modules A and
B by the "early bird" registration date in June. So it's imperative to
register early.
Module A and/or B participants may want to stay the remainder of the
week to gain additional CME/CMD credit hours by attending the Advanced
Course in Medical Direction.
The Advanced Course, to be held from 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 4
through 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, has been carefully planned to
meet the needs of experienced medical directors with the use of formats
best suited to adult learning. Topics include areas on leadership and
organizational culture featuring AMDA members James Pattee, MD, CMD-R
and Steven Levenson, MD, CMD. Steven Stralser, PhD of The Center for
Professional Development, University of Arizona will provide The Physician as Leader: Principles and Applications
with emphasis on the concepts of motivation and organizational culture
and climate. Howard Sollins, Esq. and Steven Levenson, MD, CMD, will
provide updates on regulatory and policy issues. David Brechtelsbauer,
MD, CMD, Advanced Course Director shares that, "This year, AMDA has an
ambitious plan to provide a panel comprised of an FDA representative, a
member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing Association
(PhRMA), and an analyst to address emerging drug therapies--their
promises and risks. We expect that this will be a lively panel about
important clinical information that will encourage participant
interaction."
In response to the annual requests of participants for peer-to-peer
learning opportunities, the Saturday session will conclude with an
opportunity to attend two, forty-five minute roundtables for asking the
experts, and for sharing tools, templates and ideas. In order to make
these sessions a success, participants are encouraged to bring sample
policies, tools, procedures and templates for forms to share.
Don't miss this opportunity to acquire 35 hours toward CMD
certification from the Core Curriculum or 17 hours toward
recertification from the Advanced Course!
