Be sure to mark you calendar for the 2004 AMDA Annual Symposium March 4-7 in Phoenix, Arizona. The theme of the conference is Making the Desert Bloom: Creating Excellence in Long Term Care. As many of us in the LTC environment struggle with regulations, liability issues and reimbursement, this meeting will address those issues and provide education and tools for you to take home and implement in your work setting so you too can thrive in your environment.

The program committee will meet this month to review the 102 submissions received through the Call for Presentations. The committee will then fill the program with a mixture of talks from the Call as well as invites speakers on the topics identified by our membership. A detailed program and registration materials will arrive in early November. In the meantime, if you have research or information to share, there is still time to submit a poster presentation for the 2004 program. For details visit our Web site.

Show your chapter's dedication to long term care by encouraging your delegation to attend the meeting. Every year participants tell us how valuable the AMDA annual symposium is to their practice and how much they have learned. Re-energize your chapter with a strong presence in Phoenix. You can also use the symposium as a means to showcase your chapter's achievements by signing up for a complimentary tabletop exhibit. State Chapter Connections will again have a presence in the exhibit hall. If you wish to participate, please contact Jennifer Braun at 410/992-3124 to reserve your space.
