Web Update
Internet Alley Introduced at Annual Symposium
More than 400 attendees visited Internet Alley at AMDA's 24th Annual Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia. A new service, Internet Alley provided computers and high-speed Internet access to allow attendees to surf the web, check e-mail, and explore AMDA's web sites. Attendees overwhelmingly ranked Internet Alley highly and recommended it be repeated--and expanded--at AMDA's 2002 Annual Symposium.
Internet Alley was sponsored by Achieve Healthcare Information Systems, a provider of information systems products and services to facilities across the long term care continuum.
Web-Based CME Programs Debut
AMDA has officially launched five new web-based CME programs on its new web site dedicated to long term care CME. The five programs represent AMDA's first offerings of web-based continuing medical education. These new programs are developed and taught by AMDA members who understand the unique requirements of long term care medical directors and attending physicians. All programs are approved for AMA-PRA Category 1 CME credit as well as AMDA CMD credit:
- Immunization in Long Term Care (1 hour)
- Pain Management (1.5 hours)
- PPS: Lessons Learned and Strategies for Working Together (2 hours)
- Practical Guidelines for Handling VRE and MRSA in Long Term Care (1.5 hours)
- Urinary Incontinence in Long Term Care (1.5 hours)
The new web site, AMDA CME Direct.com (www.amdacmedirect.com), was developed by AMDA exclusively to offer web-based CME for long term care physicians and medical directors. To learn more about AMDA's new web-based CME programming, point your web browser to www.amdacmedirect.com.
A mini CD-ROM (playable in any computer that has a CD-ROM drive) containing brief demonstrations of the new web-based CME programs is available from the AMDA office. This mini CD-ROM was distributed to attendees at Internet Alley.
Each web-based program is only $20 for AMDA members, $40 for non-members. Alternatively, programs can be ordered on CD-ROM for an additional $8 shipping & handling. If you have any questions about AMDA's web-based CME programming, or if you would like a free mini CD-ROM, please contact Patrick Drews, Web Coordinator, at 410/740–9743, ext. 114 or e–mail to patdrews@amda.com.
