Assisted Living Community
During the past decade, more AMDA members have begun caring for residents in assisted living (AL). AMDA responded to this evolution by establishing the Assisted Living Work Group to address those issues that resulted in a 2006 AL Consensus Conference to develop clinical guidance for this care setting; the recently released white paper on the physician's role in this; and AL-specific educational products. AMDA is providing interested members with this online community to network and discuss topical AL issues. AL community members will be able to post questions, ideas, and models, as well as dialogue or problem-solve with each other.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What are the appropriate codes for evaluation and management services in the assisted living setting?
Assisted living for the purposes of CPT™ coding are defined as services provided at a facility which provides room, board, and other personal assistance services, generally on a long term basis. The facility's services do not include a medical component. It would be appropriate to use the codes from 99324–99337 to report such services. These codes identify Domiciliary, Rest Home (e.g., Boarding Home), or Custodial Care Services.
