Institute for LTC Practice Improvement
AMDA debuts a component of the "Institute for LTC Practice Improvement" at three regional meetings this year. The Institute will educate physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and managerial registered nurses in any setting or combination of settings across the LTC continuum, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, CCRCs, hospice, and home care. Participants will learn about clinical innovations and hone skills related to challenges that are common to the LTC continuum.
Titled Finding Your Way in Long Term Care, this course will offer clinical, regulatory, communication and risk management presentations. Content will be built upon the most recently published Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) on Pressure Ulcers, Urinary Incontinence, Diabetes, and Pain Management and will reinforce the roles of members of the interdisciplinary care team (IDT) as described above. The goal of the course is to provide the IDT with practical knowledge and enhance the application of that knowledge to help them thrive in this challenging setting. Participants will receive implementation tools, such as the relevant CPGs and Protocols for Practitioner Notification as well as links to practical information on AMDA's web site.
