Position Description

Title: Director of Membership and Communications
Supervisor: Executive Director
Qualifications:

Proven record of successful outreach to recruit and retain members and organizations as outlined by the strategic plan. Ability to coordinate all phases of the association’s member service and benefit programs and be able to work in close harmony with the Executive Director, staff, committee members, board and association members. Budgeting and financial experience. Strong marketing knowledge and background and strong supervisory skills, written and oral communication skills. College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in association work and working with committees and volunteers.

Description: Develops, implements, and directs membership recruitment/retention outreach programs, state chapter relations, and business development with close integration with the marketing team. Directs processing and maintenance of member records.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to external and internal customers on a daily basis; including offering suggestions to AMDA staff that may lead to improvements in AMDA customer service.
  • Identifies opportunities for growth and builds programs and relationships accordingly.
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting, design/development, production, distribution/mailings and program review, reports and statistics for all membership marketing campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate development of member statistics and reports including overall growth and projections. Prepare membership recap reports and growth comparison charts as needed. Assess cost of benefits and dues levels annually and make recommendations for change accordingly.
  • Review and evaluate on a continuing basis the membership needs of AMDA members through assessments, committee input, and biennial membership surveys. Make recommendations for activities to develop and support membership to the Executive Director and Membership Committee.
  • Remain current on benefits and services that can be made available to all segments of the association membership.
  • Direct corporate membership programs and development working relationships w/key corporate contacts.
  • Direct database and records management, analyzing data base requirements to fully utilize capabilities of integrated software.
  • Direct the annual membership dues billing and collection throughout the year.
  • Plan and coordinate appropriate recruitment and retention programs to assure continued growth and reduce dropout rate.
  • Develop state chapter communications programs that contributes to member growth of states and national organization.
  • Develop revenue generating opportunities for the organization through affinity program development, licensing and other collaborative programs.
  • Regularly meet and communicate with all other teams to integrate membership activities and marketing opportunities.
  • Develop and implement communications plan to communicate the value of membership to current members, prospects, consumers, and other LTC stakeholders.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Membership Committee. Prepare materials needed for Membership committee meetings as needed.

  • Oversee production of AMDA Reports newsletter, State Network News, Weekly Round Up, home page news, and News from the Association in Caring for the Ages.
  • Represent AMDA on the Caring for the Ages Editorial Advisory Board.
  • Maintains news media lists and coordinates development and dissemination of news releases.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
