Howard Guterman Poster Award
The Howard Guterman Poster Award recognizes the most outstanding contribution to the Annual Long Term Care Medicine Conference Poster Session. Posters are judged on criteria in three areas: content, presentation, and visual aesthetics.
The award is made each year at the Annual Symposium by the Foundation Board of Directors. The criteria for the Guterman Award are:
Content
- Inclusion of each of the four content areas:
- Introduction and objective
- Methods used
- Results obtained
- Conclusion(s)
- Validity of study or topic area to clinical medicine or medical direction in the long term care continuum (e.g., geriatric and non-geriatric NFs, home care, hospice, and subacute care).
- Clarity of description and depth of detail used to report each of the four content areas listed above.
- Practical application.
- Innovation in thought or approach.
- Best use of illustrations and tables, including clarity and ease of reading and arrangement in sequence according to their reference in the text.
Presentation
- The primary presenter must be available for discussion with the judges at the time posters are reviewed by the judging committee.
- Presentation will be evaluated on depth of knowledge and clarity of response regarding the topic and content areas of the poster.
- Presenters should show energy and enthusiasm in their responses.
Visual Aesthetics
- Text and illustrations are easily viewed from a distance of 8-10 feet away.
- Lettering is sized to maximize legibility.
- Overall appearance and quality of poster presentation.
