Frequently Asked Questions

Clinical Affairs

  • Which Clinical Practice Guidelines are on a PDF file?
The Clinical Practice Guidelines are not available as PDFs. They are sold in the format of hard copy and electronic format. For more details or to order, click here.

  • How can I get permission to reprint the PAINAD (Pain Assessment in Advanced Dementia) Scale?
AMDA did not develop this tool but has permission to use it. There are no copyright requirements to use this tool because it was developed through a government entity and thus resides in the public domain. However, recognition of the VA is appreciated. They request that you reference the tool as suggested below; if the entire source information is too long, please include the Warden, et al reference at a minimum.

The PAINAD was developed and tested by clinicians and researchers at the New England Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center, a Department of Veterans Affairs center of excellence with divisions at EN Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, Bedford, MA, and VA Boston Health System. We are committed to maintaining the validity and reliability of the PAINAD as a clinical and research tool and will communicate with you periodically about its use and future revisions.

  • Where can I locate information on E-prescribing incentive?
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has published Electronic Health Record Incentive Program FAQs and has a website dedicated to Frequently Asked Questions called All EHR Incentive Program FAQs. In addition, AMDA has published a summary on the requirements in its AMDA Summary of Physician Fee Schedule (see pages 27-32, Members Only).
